EXCLUSIVE: New Line has just closed a deal to acquire The Children, a pitch by the writing team of Mikki Daughtry & Tobias Iaconis. This is being fast-tracked; New Line is looking to get it into production early next year. The general gist: a social worker investigating the mysterious disappearance of two children discovers her own family might also be in jeopardy.

The scribes made the 2013 Black List for their spec Elsewhere, and they just adapted the Spanish film Sleep Tight for producers Peter Block and Guy Stodel. Emile Gladstone and Gary Dauberman will produce. Gladstone just wrapped the comedy Army Of One that Larry Charles directed for The Weinstein Company with Nicolas Cage starring and Conde Nast Entertainment and Endgame also producing. Dauberman is making his debut as a producer but is no stranger to New Line. He wrote Annabelle, the film that grossed more than $250 million for New Line, whose execs Richard Brener, Walter Hamada & Dave Neustadter are shepherding this.

Paradigm and Madhouse Entertainment rep the scribes.
