EuropaCorp has set Land Of Mine helmer Martin Zandvliet to direct Kursk, a fact-based drama scripted by Saving Private Ryan scribe Robert Rodat based on the true story of a multi-national rescue attempt of the sunken K-141 Kursk. Kursk was a Russian nuclear-powered cruise missile submarine that experienced a series of sudden explosions. Rodat is writing the script based on Robert Moore’s book A Time To Die.
The deal comes as Zandvliet’s film Land Of Mine premieres on the opening weekend of the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. Kursk will be his first English-language film. The director is repped by WME and Magnolia Entertainment.
