Straight outta Compton… comes a new medical drama. Fox has given a script commitment with significant penalty to an untitled nkechidrama project from Howard Gordon’s Teakwood Lane. Written by Nkechi Okoro Carroll (Bones, The Finder), the medical franchise centers on three brilliant young doctors who grew up together in CompFox Logoton and are reunited at an extraordinary cutting-edge hospital in Beverly Hills. Now the shared secrets from their past force them to straddle the line between the opulence of their new world and the hard streets they came from. The leads are envisioned as black and Latino.

Carroll is executive producing with Teakwood Lane’s Gordon and Hugh Fitzpatrick. 20th Century Fox TV, where Teakwood Lane is under an overall deal, is the studio. Actress-writer Carroll, who grew up in the Ivory Coast and England, also is under an overall deal at 20th TV. She currently works on the new Fox/20th TV crime drama with medical elements Rosewood, starring Morris Chestnut as a private pathologist. Prior to her TV writing career, Carroll worked for the Federal Reserve.

Teakwood Lane’s portfolio includes series Homeland on Showtime, Tyrant on FX and Legends on TNT as well as the 24 limited series franchise, which is working on a new installment.

Gordon is repped by WME. Carroll is with WME and Metamorphic Entertainment.
