EXCLUSIVE: Haley Bennett has landed the role of Megan in The Girl On The Train, starring alongside Emily Blunt and Rebecca Ferguson in the Tate Taylor-directed adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ runaway bestseller novel for DreamWorks. Bennett is coming off The Equalizer, and she is starring in the currently shooting The Magnificent Seven. She also stars in the upcoming untitled Warren Beatty film.
Blunt plays Rachel, a recent divorcee who narrates the tale and spends her daily commute fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day. One morning, she sees something shocking happen there and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds, involving the other two women. Ferguson, hot off Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, plays Anna, and Bennett rounds out the trio. Now they’re casting the male roles.
The project has been likened to Gone Girl for its thriller elements and that it is an adaptation of a publishing phenomenon. Erin Cressida Wilson wrote the script and Marc Platt is producing the film, with Jared LeBoff and Celia Costas the exec producers. Bennett is repped by CAA and attorney Dave Feldman.
