Exclusive: Awkward‘s Greer Grammer, has signed on for the title role in Emma’s Chance, from director Anna Elizabeth James. Based on California’s real-life Red Bucket Equine Rescue, Emma’s Chance features Grammer in the fictional role of a young woman who saves an abused horse – named Chance – from the type of auction that ends at a horse-meat factory. Bullied in high school, Emma takes a liking to the abused horse while performing community service, and devises a scheme to put the predatory horse-buyer out of business.
Produced by Tyler W. Konney, Emma’s Chance is being made in cooperation with Chino Hill’s Red Bucket Equine Rescue and its president and founder Susan Pierce, and will be partially shot on location there. Filming is set to begin in early September. Barbara Greaves, Richard Switzer, and Natalie Metzger exec produce. Grammer was also recently case as one of Charlie Manson’s killer girls in an upcoming Lifetime TV movie. She’s repped by APA, Strategic Talent Group and Manos PR. Angela Sarafyan, currently set to star in HBO’s remake of Westworld, has been cast opposite Oscar Isaacs and Christian Bale in The Promise, from director Terry George (Hotel Rwanda). Set in the aftermath of World War One, The Promise centers around a love triangle involving a medical student (Isaacs), a Paris-based journalist (Bale), and a worldly, beautiful woman (Sarafyan) as the postwar fate of the Ottoman Empire is hashed out by the victories Allies. With the Empire heading to dissolution, the medical student is conflicted by old world traditions and the journalist by his career spent amid warzones.
Sarafyan was most recently seen in 1915, a psychological thriller examining the Armenian genocide during World War 1. She’s repped by Primary Wave, Innovative Artists, Primary Wave, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush & Kaller.
