Production has started in New York this week on Don’t Think Twice, a comedy that Mike Birbiglia wrote and is directing. He also stars with Keegan-Michael Key, Gillian Jacobs, Kate Micucci, Tami Sagher and Chris Gethard. Cold Iron Pictures and The Film Arcade are financing. Birbiglia is best known for his one-man shows Sleepwalk With Me and My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, and he most recently was onscreen in Trainwreck and The Fault In Our Stars, as well as TV’s Girls and Orange Is The New Black. He is producing with Cold Iron’s Miranda Bailey and Amanda Marshall. Exec producers are Ira Glass and The Film Arcade’s J. Beck and Andy Bohn.

The comedy is about an improv group that loses the lease on its home theater at the same time that one of its cast members gets chosen for the biggest sketch-comedy show on TV. It’s about the bitterness and backstabbing that occurs among friends when they realize that maybe not everyone’s gonna make it after all.

UTA Independent Film Group brokered the deal for the filmmakers. Birbiglia is repped by UTA. Key is repped by UTA and Principato Young Entertainment. Jacobs is repped by UTA and Authentic Talent. Micucci is repped by WME and Principato Young Entertainment. Sagher is repped by UTA and Thruline. Gethard is repped by APA and AGI Entertainment Media & Management.
