After failing to appear together in a scene for years amid rumors of a personal friction, The Good Wife‘s Emmy-CBS Logowinning Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi shared a sweet bar scene in the season finale, which marked Panjabi’s departure from the show. It turned out to be a CGI trick — the two actresses didn’t film together, which stirred controversy. CBS Chairman Nina Tassler was asked to comment on the decision. “I’m not going to reveal movie magic,” she said. “The ending was very satisfying for the relationship between those two characters. I stand behind how (creators) Robert and Michelle King produce their show.”

After the universally praised Season 5, punctuated by co-star Josh Charles’ shocking exit, Season 6 of The Good Wife drew more mixed reaction. Tassler defended the veteran drama’s creative direction. “I feel that the show still has raised the bar in terms of the quality of storytelling, and the year that Robert and Michelle have planned is as exciting as all the previous years. Even more so,” she said.

YHWHNo decisions have been made yet whether the upcoming abbreviated fifth season of Person Of Interest and the current third season of Under the Dome would be their final ones.

“The dome is coming down at the end of this season, but that opens up a host of other storytelling opportunities,” Tassler said. “We will wait until end of the summer to make a decision on Under The Dome and Extant.” She stressed that CBS brass are “happy with our summer strategy” despite soft linear ratings.”WExtant halle berry july 15 2015e make money from those shows (regardless of ratings).” Under The Dome, Extant and Zoo have streaming deals with Amazon/Netflix, which has boosted CBS’ returns. And Zoo ranks as the most-watched scripted series this summer, Tassler noted. (The network already has picked up a new original drama for next summer, BrainDead.)

One summer show that definitely won’t be coming back is reality experiment The Briefcase. “The show didn’t land, the intent was to tell different kind of stories, but it didn’t work,” Tassler said.

As for CBS’ biggest hit, The Big Bang Theory, there is no endgame planned yet. Tassler said emphatically.

DC-themed Supergirl on CBS and Arrow/The Flash on the CW will share cross-promotion but there are no plans to cross over characters between CBS and the CW, at least not for now, Tassler said.
