It has been a top goal for FX to launch a successful animated companion for Archer. After two attempts, each of which lasted a season, Unsupervised and Chosen, the network is at it again with a new series co-created by Archer creator/executive producer Adam Reed. Cassius And Clay, originally ordered to pilot in May, has been picked up to series for comedy-centric FXX. After six seasons on FX, Archer also is headed to FXX where its seventh season will be paired with Cassius And Clay‘s 10-episode freshman run in 2016.
In the vein of Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid, Cassius and Clay stars Kaitlin Olson as Cassius and Lake Bell as Clay, bandits looking to survive in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic American South.
“Tearing through the Smoky Mountains, Cassius and Clay don’t just survive the end of the world – they thrive on it with a pack of misfits who persevere against all odds in this Southern-fried apocalypse,” said FX Networks’ Nick Grad.
The series was created by Reed and Megan Ganz (Modern Family, Community). The two executive produce with Reed’s Floyd County Productions and Archer exec producer Matt Thompson for FX Productions. The voice cast also includes Susan Sarandon, JB Smoove, Kevin Michael Richardson, Jeffrey Tambor, Stephen Root, Katy Mixon and Robert Patrick.
FX Networks has been ramping up FXX whose original lineup now includes Archer, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, You’re The Worst, Man Seeking Woman, Animation Domination, and Cassius And Clay.
