Mary Lynn Rajskub has booked a series regular role on the Amazon pilot Highston, the half-hour coming-of-age comedy written by Nebraska scribe Bob Nelson, executive produced Sacha Baron Cohen and to be directed by the Little Miss Sunshine duo of Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. The single-camera project centers on Highston Liggets, a kind 19-year-old and perched on the edge of adulthood. When he encounters a world he doesn’t understand, like Elwood P. Dowd, he retreats into his vast imagination, where famous “friends” are his companions and mentors. Rajskub is set to play Jean, Highston’s mother.
Rajskub, who reprised her role as Chloe in Fox’s event series 24: Live Another Day, also just landed a role in the Fox Searchlight pic Wilson opposite Woody Harrelson and Judy Greer, playing the wife of the best friend of Wilson (Harrelson). She is repped by Innovative Artists, Levity Entertainment Group and attorney Bob Myman.
Tao Okamoto has been cast in a recurring role on Amazon’s upcoming drama series The Man In The High Castle, written and executive produced by Frank Spotnitz based on the novel by Phillip K. Dick. Ridley Scott, David Zucker and Jordan Sheehan also are exec producing. Okamoto, who recently did a guest arc on NBC’s recently cancelled Hannibal and on the feature side is up next in Warner Bros’ Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, plays Betty in High Castle. Set in an alternate version of the early 1960s in which the Axis powers won World War II, the novel revolved around a group of people connected to one another by an in-universe alternate-history novel that tells of the Allies winning the war. Okamoto is repped by ICM Partners and Donna Inc.
