The Season 3 debut of Hollywood Game Night (1.5/5) was called “Two Janes Are Better Than One” and that seemed to be the case ratingswise. With host Jane Lynch joined by Jane Krakowski plus Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Giada De Laurentiis, Zachary Quinto and lovebirds John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, the NBC celebfest matched a series high among adults 18-49 and saw its second-biggest audience ever with 5.42 million watching. The second season of Hollywood Game Night actually started in January last year and, compared with that, last night’s premiere was up 15%. When compared to the May 8, 2014 summer debut, Tuesday’s Season start was up a very nice 67% in the demo.

The winning start for Hollywood Game Night, which has bounced around the schedule, was in no small part due to its lead-in last night America’s Got Talent (2.2/8). While the summer small screen blockbuster dropped 12% last night to a season low in preliminary numbers, AGT was still easily the highest-rated and most watched (10.36 million) show of the night. Which, of course, made NBC as the top-rated (2.0/7) and biggest audience (8.71 million).

The second highest rated networks were Univision and CBS with a 0.9/3 each, while ABC was third (0.6/2) and Fox fourth (0.5/2). On a night of NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans encores, the only new thing on CBS last night was Zoo (1.1/4). The summer series adaptation of James Patterson 2012 novel was pretty steady with its debut last week, seeing an 8% dip.

Fox’s Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader (0.6/2) took more of a tumble, falling 14% from its June 23 show. ABC’s only original of the night was Extreme Weight Loss (0.6/2). The 9-11 PM show dropped 14% among adults 18-49 from last week.
