UPDATE with Comic-Con trailers for Extant and Zoo: “Television is where it’s at right now; the best things are on TV,” Extant star Halle Berry told a packed Ballroom 20 today in kicking off the CBS mega-panel in San Diego. “TV is the new frontier, the best writing is on TV. There’s great writing for women, women like me — my age, my ethnicity — to play great complicated characters.” The Oscar winner also said she took her role as an executive producer on the show very seriously. “I like having some creative involvement not just being the dancing bear,” she said, noting her role in bringing in the show’s reboot for its recently debuted Season 2.

The Comic-Con debut of Extant was joined by fellow CBS series and Comic-Con vets Under The Dome and Scorpion, plus freshman Zoo and the small-screen adaptation of Limitless. The pilot of the Bradley Cooper-produced latter was set to be shown to the crowd. The American Sniper actor will not be at SDCC but is expected to appear in a video from London, where he is onstage in The Elephant Man.

After showing a video of the just-completed second season of Extant and EP Craig Shapiro geeking out about still wanting to meet fellow EP Steven Spielberg, the debut panel also revealed an upcoming but not-unexpected romance: Berry admitted that she and new addition Jeffrey Dean Morgan “are going to swap fluids” before the season is up. “Let’s just get it out there,” the actress told the cheering crowd over the mock objections and laughter of the Watchmen alum.

Berry got even more cheers when moderator Chris Hardwick noted “an article I read on Deadline” about the X-Men vet doing a movie based on her Storm character. As she told me, Berry said she would love to do a pic about the weather-manipulating mutant. Throwing the ball in Fox’s court, Hardwick encouraged the fans to petition for the pic. “It starts here!” he bellowed.
