EXCLUSIVE: Santiago Segura, seen recently on HBO’s Silicon Valley, Delrium, and in the upcoming Hand of G-D, has Landed a supporting role in 47 Meters Down. The drama focuses on two sisters vacationing in Mexico. When the cable supporting their shark cage breaks, the pair find themselves trapped on the ocean floor, surrounded by a school of sharks. Segura will play Benjamin, one of the young locals who takes the girls out to sea. Starring Mandy Moore and Claire Holt, it’s directed by Johannes Roberts (Storage 24), and produced by Mark Lane and James Harris for their The Tea Shop and Film Company. Segura is repped by Primary Wave Entertainment.
Russell Peters and Faison Love have teamed up to star in the stoner buddy comedy Ripped. Peters has been most recently seen in NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and the Jon Favreau-directed comedy Chef, as well as his recent Almost Famous world tour. Love has been seen in Zookeeper, Couples Retreat, and Elf among many others. Directed by Brad Epstein from a screenplay written by Epstein and Billiam Coronel, the film has also cast Alex Meneses, who will next be seen in the upcoming NBC show Hot & Bothered. Pelican Point Media has worldwide rights to finance, produce and distribute. Ike Suri, Brad Epstein and Javier Chapa are producing. Rafi Gavron (Snitch) has joined the cast of The Land, from Sandbar Pictures. The film focuses on four teenage boys dreaming of escaping Cleveland, Ohio to pursue their dreams of professional skateboarding. Gavron will portray the character “Patty Cake,” the oldest and toughest of the group, described as a smooth talking ladies man who has already fathered a child, but is the most immature of the group. The film also stars Moises Arias, Michael K. Williams and Jorge Lendeborg. Gavron is repped by Greene & Associates, Affirmative Entertaiment and Dave Feldman at Bloom Hergott.
