UPDATED with trailer: Once again the Sons Of Anarchy EP closed out the San Diego confab with a Hall H presentation. However, unlike past years, Kurt Sutter wasn’t onstage in person and wasn’t talking about the FX biker drama, which wrapped up its run in December. What Sutter was talking about was his upcoming FX series The Bastard Executioner. Preceding a short behind-the-scenes featurette on TBX, the showrunner appeared onscreen to the thousands in the room to tell them where the upcoming series was at. For one thing, the clean-shaven Sutter revealed that he will be making a cameo in The Bastard Executioner’s first season: The Dark Mute role, which Sutter will play “will be in full prosthetic makeup,” he said. So it might be hard to pick him out in the show.

Set to debut in the fall, The Bastard Executioner is currently in “the process of reshoots in Wales,” Sutter also told the Hall H audiencevia taped video message. The first official trailer for series is set to debut tonight during the Season 2 premiere of The Strain on FX.

The Bastard Executioner featurette that was shown next reveled lead star Lee Jones, a very long-haired Katay Sagal and a royal Stephen Moyer talking about their charterers in the show. The footage also showed Jones’ character traveling across the medieval landscape and impersonating an executioner before Moyer’s royal personage. The Jones character seemed incredibly conflicted about the nature of his executioner duties.
