Fox has been mum on details for its big Comic-Con presentation this year. But bet on the studio pushing its Fantastic Four reboot and Hitman: Agent 47. Also in the mix could be Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. And thanks to Deadline’s exclusive Conan news about the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse being the surprise guests on his his talk show tonight, it’s a good bet X-Men will be in the Hall H mix as well. Follow Deadline’s live blog below.

Patrick Hipes July 11, 20155:51 pm

Moderator Chris Hardwick is on the scene now giving the spiel about not recording — they’re teasing a big event at the end.

Patrick Hipes July 11, 20155:52 pm

Here we go, the the first trailer for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20155:52 pm

And now begins the Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials panelists.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20155:54 pm

Discussion of the film is what it is. Dylan O’Brien says “for me Thomas is kind of angry… at the end of the first film he’s just crushed with this guilt, losing one special friend in particular, knowing he didn’t lead people to the right place, it’s going to weigh on him.”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20155:57 pm

After some banter aboutBreaking Bad, Giancarlo Esposito says it’s “just as great an honor” to be a part of this film as that show.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20155:58 pm

Director Wes Ball is repeatedly making it clear this film begins right exactly where the previous film left off.

Patrick Hipes July 11, 20155:59 pm

More from backstage:

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:00 pm

This is a fun conversation about The Maze Runner, but because we know we’re going to talk about Deadpool and Fantastic Four soon it has a “cool story bro” feel to it. But they are cool stories, especially whenever Giancarlo talks about anything.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:01 pm

They’re going to play a clip of “:the really scary monsters in our movie”.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:02 pm

footage is bleak and very very Hunger Games feeling, if you’ve read the third book I mean.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:04 pm

anyone who played Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us will find this entire clip very very familiar.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:05 pm

Maze Runner portion is over. Who’s next? Why it’s…

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:05 pm

Cliffhanger…

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:06 pm

Frankenstein. We’re getting the wolrd premier of the Victor Frankenstein trailer.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:07 pm

oh god, there is a reference to Young Frankenstein in this trailer.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:08 pm

now coming out on stage, James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliff. Someone yelled out “I LOVE YOU HARRY”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:09 pm

OH also director Paul McGuigan is onstage too.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:10 pm

“It’s a love story between [Victor Frankenstein and Igor]” says McGuigan about the film. “It’s about giving the name Frankenstein back to the scientist.”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:12 pm

This is one of the most Scottish panels since Brave. Meanwhile, DanRad has an amazing beard. About the film and playing Igor, DanRad says “Igor is kind of being kept in abject conditions… Victor finds me and kind of lifts him out of those conditions, he saves me. Later Victor loses his goddamned mind, and how do you tell someone they’re doing that is what the film gets about.”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:12 pm

“If you’ve ever wanted to see Daniel Radcliff beaten up, abused, humiliated, this is your movie” – McAvoy.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:14 pm

My take away: It’s Frankenstein reimagined as a bromance action film. To that end, DanRad and McAvoy are flirting.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:14 pm

“I know Comic COn sounds like a party, but ask for ID. It’s worth it.” – Hardwick. TO huge laughs.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:16 pm

Asked what Victor and Igor want, McAvoy does a hilarious spot-on American accent: “Just trying to build monsters and be a good christian. Just building monsters and shit, and America”. Best moment of the entire con.

Patrick Hipes July 11, 20156:16 pm

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:19 pm

McAvoy on working with DanRad: “We have similar energy levels and physical abilities, so we just kind of go at it all day.” McGuigan: “And then we film!” Big laughs. And now McAvoy and DanRad are basically slash-ficing themselves. McAvoy pinned DanRad against the wall. Lots of girls screaming. Also lots of me screaming #noregrets

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:20 pm

Everything they’re saying sounds like innuendo now, which Radcliff just acknowledged.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:21 pm

I wouyld probably watch McAvoy and Radcliff together in anything together after this Panel.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:21 pm

Now a new exclusive clip.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:23 pm

clip is of the waking of the monster. It’s snarky and funny and then kind of violent and (cgi) gross. I LIKES WHAT I SEES.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:24 pm

Victor Frankenstein is an origin story by the way, and also a retelling of the novel. Just to clear up any lack of clarity.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:24 pm

Origin story of Igor, weirdly enough.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:25 pm

But enough about that, it’s Fantastic Four time. Josh Trank, Simon Kinberg anbd the cast of the film are onstage now.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:26 pm

Josh Trank: “I have not been to Comic COn since I was 15. I stopped coming because it got too Hollywood. So this is Ironic.”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:28 pm

“A more grounded, dramatic, emotional, character driven story… it was more science than science fiction” Kinberg describing Josh Trank’s pitch for the movie.

Patrick Hipes July 11, 20156:29 pm

Trank and Kinberg

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:30 pm

It’s looking like Fox isn’t planning to make the trailers shown tonight available online “immediately” after the panel, so you’ll have to wait a while readers. This means of course that I am now in the unusual position of being a tastemaker. You’re welcome. My opinion is now as powerful as Reed Richards.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:31 pm

“It’s like living out a childhood dream” says Michael B. Jordan.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:32 pm

“You gotta respect the history and the legacy of Fantastic Four, being Marvel’s first family.” – Michael B. Jordan.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:34 pm

Toby Kebbel calls Doctor Doom the “best villain of all time… He’s driven by ego… it’s allowing your ego to run riot.”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:35 pm

“I think it’s very relatable, whenever you lose your temper you think you should apologize, but when you’re a villain you find a twist so you’re always right” – Kebbel on why audiences like villains.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:36 pm

Here’s the final Fantastic Four trailer world premiering. Remember people, my opinion is now god.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:40 pm

I wasn’t expecting this to be so much about cosmic science fiction but that aspect seems kind of interesting. Obviously it’s a trailer. Excitement and so on. Yes, you’ve seen all the beats the trailer hits, and it even spoils the film’s wham line. But I can’t help but forgive it any time Michael B. Jordan is on screen.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:40 pm

first Deadpool trailer. It’s hilarious

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:41 pm

No I’m wrong, it’s the official debut of Reynolds as Deadpool in a video. AND IT IS HILARIOUS. Lots of f bombs too.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:42 pm

now Reynolds is on stage and the audience is screaming. He’s kind of in character as Deadpool – “looks like it’s time to make the chimi-fucking-changas” before thanking the fans’ freaking out over the leaked test video for making this movie possible.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:42 pm

Now Tim Miller and Moren Baccaren are onstage. Plus TJ Miller.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:43 pm

Briana Hildebrand in an amazing dress.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:44 pm

Tim Miller on why he’s making it. “Fox said ‘you can make it’ and I said YEAH”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:45 pm

“I think this character inhabits a space in the comics universe no character could. It’s a miracle the studio is letting us make Deadpool, let alone a rated R Deadpool” – Ryan Reynolds. “No matter what the ratings say, babies will love this!”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:47 pm

Reynolds just dissed the shit out of Green Lantern. “I’ve only done one proper- sorry, NOT proper – super hero movie, and I didn’t even get a suit then. The [Deadpool] suit changes everything on set.”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:48 pm

TJ Miller quotes the admonition against swearing on stage the panelists are given, then says “To the people who wrote this I just wanna say you’re gonna f*cking love this movie”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:49 pm

This panel has basically turned into the “Take it from me I love you!” sketch from Mr. Show, swearing wise.

Patrick Hipes July 11, 20156:49 pm

Miller and Reynolds

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:50 pm

Brianna Hildebrand had a huge crush on Ryan Reynolds growing up, she says. So did I.  I mean no I didn’t.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:50 pm

Reynolds says “I guess I was her Joey Lawrence”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:51 pm

Horse puns are happening. HORSE PUNS, people. This panel is a comedy gold mine.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:54 pm

Whatever else this movie ends up being, they’re having a lot of fun making it, clearly, and that’s infectious.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:56 pm

Deadpool by the way is, in the comics, kind of insane and occasionally aware that he’s a comic book character. The banter, especially between TJ Miller, Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds is suggesting we might be able to look forward to that being in the film. This is the funniest panel I’ve seen all week.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:57 pm

On what to expect in the film, “it’s everything we loved about the comics, a guy obviously that’s going to break the fourth wall, and the most faithful adaptation of comic to film we’ve ever seen…” says Reynolds. “And at no point is his mouth sewn shut,” he says referencing the reviled take on the character from X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20156:59 pm

And yep, they’re showing footage of Deadpool. Here we go.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:01 pm

holy crap this is hilarious and extremely profane.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:02 pm

Standing ovation for that trailer which is genuinely hilarious. They’re basically going for a “guardians of the galaxy but HARD R kind of vibe”. The audience is shouting “one more time” repeatedly.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:03 pm

“F*ck it let’s show it again” says Hardwick.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:07 pm

I don’t want to quote anything from this trailer, the jokes need to be experienced, but this thing is severely profane and gory and also, has songs by Salt n Pepa and DMX which makes it automatically wonderful by mood setting standards.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:08 pm

They’re hosting screenings of the Rogue Cut of Days of Future Past tonight after the panel by the way.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:11 pm

After a retrospective short about X-men that includes Hugh Jackman’s auditon tape from the 90s, Jackman came out on stage.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:12 pm

“playing the legend that is wolverine has been the greatest part of my life.. I’m here today for one major reason, and that’s to thank the fans… I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Patrick Hipes July 11, 20157:13 pm

Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr just posted his exclusive sit-down Q&A with Bryan Singer. Read it here when you get a chance.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:13 pm

Jackman confirms “one last time” wearing the claws, and says “this has been the best thing that ever happened to me”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:14 pm

Jackman calls Bryan SInger “The one, the only, the amazing genius” and invutes him out on stage. This is a nice way for Jackman to kick off the Wolverine farewell tour.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:15 pm

Jackman didn’t have an agent when he auditioned for X-men. JAckman: that was the moment that changed my life forever.” Then Bryan and Hugh hug.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:16 pm

And now the cast of X-Men Apocalypse.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:16 pm

Fassbender, Oscar Isaacs, Jennifer Lawrence, this is practically a greatest hits of Comic Con 2015.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:19 pm

Also on stage, Olivia Munn, Simon Kinberg, James McAvoy, who has shaved his head since Frankenstein panel. YES he shaved his head like 45 minutes ago.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:20 pm

Fassbender too.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:20 pm

So we’re now getting some footage from Apocalypse.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:24 pm

final shot of the trailer is McAvoy finally bald and wearing a smart blue suit as Professor Xavier in a scene straight out of the comics. After the trailer ends he says “I can now finally say Patrick Stewart doesn’t have sh*t on me”.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:26 pm

Fassbender says at the beginning of the film Magneto has “hung up his cape” and “left his evil ways behind”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:28 pm

Oscar Isaac says “This world that we have, it’s not the world it should have been, because god’s been asleep. But then god wakes up,” describing the character of Apocalypse’s outlook. “Much like a cult leader, he sees people that need something, that want something, and exploits that.”

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:32 pm

Also on stage, Olivia Munn, Lucas Till, Sophie Turner, Nicholas Hoult, Lana Condor, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-Mcphee, Tye Sheridan, Evan Peters…

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:33 pm

Nicholas Hoult says “I can’t think because I’m still psyched about the Deadpool trailer” when asked about his character Beast.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:33 pm

Probably the reason the live blogging has slowed down is because I’m still psyched too.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:35 pm

“Someone’s come a long way since Attack of the Show, Olivia Munn” says Hardwick. “I can still deep throat a hot dog” she says.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:37 pm

We’re watching the x-men footage one more time. I forgot to mention it’s kind of great.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:41 pm

THe casts of all four of Fox’s super hero properties are being brought out onstage for a world record selfie With the most super heroes. This is a thing that’s happening right now. I want to remind everyone reading this that I am an adult human being also Stan Lee just came out to take the picture.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:42 pm

And Channing Tatum came out to give Stan Lee the Camera because this is a great day to be an American.

Ross A. Lincoln July 11, 20157:45 pm

Stan Lee: “Now that’s a way to end a panel!” The panel is over. That’s the news and I am OUTTA HERE wokka wokka outdated humor. But seriously, thanks for sticking with Deadline through the liveblog. Those of us here in San Diego will now go and party, and by party, I mean sleep. Goodnight!
