Zachary Levi has launched a production company, Middle Man Productions, which is based at Universal Television where Levi recently signed a first-look deal. Levi already has staffed up the company, bringing in Erik Olsen as EVP and Justin Allen as VP.  Middle Man aims at developing and producing character-driven comedy and drama projects.

EOlsenOlsen worked for Silver Pictures for 11 years, producing such films as The Book Of Eli and Orphan. He spent three years at LBI Entertainment and is in post production on Universal Pictures’ Curve, starring Julianne Hough, has indie thriller Shut In premiering at next month’s Los Angeles Film Festival, and also is producing The Dirt for Focus Features.

Allen most recently produced short films Winter Light, based on author James Lee Burke’s short story, and Here And Now, which took top prize at Ron Howard’s Project Imagination last year. He comes from a television production background, working on the last four seasons of AMC’s Mad Men.

“I’m incredibly excited to not only be developing new content with Universal Television, but to be doing so alongside Erik and Justin,” Levi said. “Both have been longtime collaborators with similar taste and passion, and the opportunity to bring them on board this journey is an honor.”

At Uni TV, Levi also is producing with Eva Longoria musical comedy project Tuned and in the upcoming Heroes Reborn NBC limited series.
