To fill the vacancy in one of their 2015 comedy pilots that had been picked up to series, People Are Talking, NBC and Universal TV have reached to one of their pilots that didn’t. Vanessa Lachey, who played a lead in the NBC/Universal comedy pilot Not Safe For Work, has been cast as a lead in the multi-camera People Are Talking, from writer DJ Nash, producer Will Packer, director Pam Fryman and Universal TV, which is slated for a fall launch on Friday.

Lachey replaces Meaghan Rath, who had to pull out after the pilot because she did it in second position to another pilot that got picked up to series, midseason Fox comedy The Guide to Surviving Life.

People Are Talking is described as an unabashed comedy about two diverse couples — one played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Lachey and the other by Tone Bell and Bresha Webb — who are neighbors and best friends. Before her casting in People Are Talking, first reported by TVLine, Lachey co-starred on Fox multi-camera comedy Dads.
