The Season 2 premiere of Tyrant last week showed its time-shifting chops on FX, with the episode posting the highest Live+ Same Day to Live+3 lift of any FX original season premiere in total viewers and adults 18-49. The premiere, which went up against Game 6 of the NBA Finals, grew +149% in the demo (376,000 to 935,000) and +121% in total viewers (1.06M to 2.35M). Still, in Live+3 the Season 2 starter was down -12% compared to the Season 1 average in total viewers (2.68 million) and -10% as compared to Season 1 finale (2.6 million). The series premiere last year drew 3.09 million total viewers.
This year the focus is shifting from Americanized Bassam, aka Barry (Adam Rayner), returning to Abbudin to the hotheaded, perhaps dimwitted President Jamal Al-Fayeed (Ashraf Barhom). who has thwarted Barry’s coup plans and is seeking new powers and allies.
The series, from Fox 21 and FX Productions, is executive produced by Howard Gordon, Glenn Gordon Caron, Chris Kyser, Gideon Raff, Avi Nir and Hugh Fitzpatrick.
