Following their collaboration on The Killing, series creator/executive producer Veena Sud is back in business with Fox 21 TV Studios, signing  a premium development deal. Under the pact, she will develop a new cable drama series.

Sud developed The Killing, based on the Danish series Forbrydelsen, at Fox TV Studios, which produced the crime thriller for four seasons — three on AMC and one on Netflix — and helped it come back from two cancellations. Fox TV Studios and Fox 21 were recently merged into one cable production company under the 20th Century Fox TV umbrella, with Fox 21 president Bert Salke at the helm.

“Veena’s an amazing storyteller and The Killing was an obsession for all of us, as well as a flagship series for this studio,” said Salke, president of Fox 21 TV Studios. “Quite frankly, we always want to be the business of making Veena-created television shows, and this deal ensures that Fox 21 Television Studios will be her exclusive home.”

Before creating The Killing, on which she served as showrunner for its entire run, Sud was a writer/executive producer on CBS drama series Cold Case. She is repped by WME and Hansen Jacobson.
