On the heels of landing his first pilot order this past season, CBS medical drama LFE, young writer-playwright Paul Downs Colaizzo has inked his first overall deal, a two-year pact with LFE producer CBS TV Studios.

Written by Colaizzo, LFE followed a group of New York City’s wildest and most brilliant doctors as they start their second year of residency in the city’s most prestigious hospital. Under the overall deal, Colaizzo will create new projects for broadcast and cable.

Colaizzo, 29, was a struggling playwright when he got his big break — his play Really Really was staged off-Broadway in 2013 with David Cromer directing and Zosia Mamet starring. In TV, he worked on Ryan Murphy’s HBO pilot Open and first tried his hand at development during the 2013-2014 season with a drama script for ABC and Shondaland. In his second attempt, he went to pilot with LFE at CBS.

Colaizzo is repped by ICM Partners.
