I’ve learned that Nathan Phillips is nearing a deal for the lead in Hunters, Syfy’s 13-episode, straight-to-series alien drama from The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, which is slated to premiere in 2016. Written by Natalie Chaidez (Heroes) based on Whitley Strieber’s best-selling novel Alien Hunter, the series chronicles the disappearance of a decorated Philadelphia cop’s wife, which leads him to a secret government unit assembled to hunt a group of ruthless terrorists — shadowy figures that may or may not be from this world. Phillips will play the detective, Flynn Carroll, a former FBI agent suffering from PTSD whose hallucinations get worse fro the stress of his wife going missing.

Hurd and Chaidez executive produce for Universal Cable Prods and Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment. The series is set to film in Melbourne, Australia.

Australian-borm Phillips, who began his career on the country’s famous soap, Neighbours, was recently seen in the Cannes 2015 selection These Final Hours. He is repped by Principato Young Entertainment, Abrams Artists, Aran Michael and attorney Todd Rubenstein.
