With its host lineup in flux the last couple of seasons, ABC’s The View has been relying heavily on guest co-hosts. I hear the show is looking to make that setup more permanent, with a stable of revolving contributors who will take turns joining the full-time panelists. I hear one of The View‘s frequent guest co-hosts, actress Molly Sims, is in serious contention for one of the new positions.
The move would take some pressure off the show, which has been under intense scrutiny over its revolving door of co-hosts. It also would be easier on the show’s budget as The View has been reining in costs under the purview of ABC News.
As for The View‘s main panel, there have been some changes in the past few months, with Rosie O’Donnell exiting and Raven-Symone brought in as a new co-host. It has become the norm for the last few years to have View cast changes in the off-season, and I hear this summer will be no exception. In addition to Raven-Symone, The View moderator Whoopi Goldberg has a deal for next season. The show introduced two new co-hosts this season, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez, with one-year deals. I hear at least one of them, if not both, is not expected to return next season.
The View also is close to naming a successor to director Ashley S. Gorman, who left the show earlier this month and has since joined the new Tyra Banks syndicated talk show FABLife. ABC News’ Jeff Winn has been filling in in the interim.
