Cinedigm has acquired North American rights to Meadowland, the psychological drama starring Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson that had its world premiere this spring at the Tribeca Film Festival. The directorial debut of cinematographer Reed Morano will get an October theatrical release.
The plot: After Sarah and Phil’s son goes missing, months pass with little information and they each struggle in their own way to cope. Phil’s more traditional route leads to an unexpected friendship, but also a precarious disconnect with the responsibilities of his job as a city cop. Teacher Sarah goes even farther overboard, struggling to keep herself in check beside the students, parents, family members, and officials that interrupt her search for answers.
Elisabeth Moss, Giovanni Ribisi, Ty Simpkins and John Leguizamo co-star. The script is by Chris Rossi.
Wilde also produces with Bron Studios’ Aaron L. Gilbert, Margot Hand and Matt Tauber. Jennifer Levine, Jason Cloth of CW Media Finance, Alex Garcia, Santiago Garcia Galvan, Marla Rand, Scott Paterson and Lauren Selig are executive producers.
The deal was negotiated by Cinedigm’s Kristin Harris with WME Global and Gersh repping the filmmakers.
