American Crime is bringing back another key cast member. Lili Taylor, who recurred in Season 2, is set as a regular in the second installment of John Ridley’s ABC anthology crime drama, joining American Crime co-stars Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, Elvis Nolasco and Richard Cabral All five will play new characters in a new setting.
“We are beyond fortunate to not only welcome Lili back for our new cycle, but to have her as a series regular,” Ridley said. “As a guest star last year Lili absolutely shined in every scene she did for us. Playing a mother forced to deal with her child’s very public tribulations, Lili’s got the capacity to bring to the character the emotional complexity that our viewers have come to expect. We couldn’t be more thankful to Lili, and to all our cast for throwing down with us.”
Ridley recently said that Season 2 of American Crime will deal with “physicality, sexuality, and societal boundaries with the same urgency as our first season dealt with race and faith,”
12 Years A Slave writer Ridley executive produces American Crime with Michael J. McDonald for ABC Studios. Like the first installment, which followed the aftermath of a murder in Modesto, California, Season 2 will film in Austin Texas, with production beginning in July. Taylor is repped by APA and Circle of Confusion.
