Within hours after disgraced former anchor Brian Williams was dispatched to MSNBC and diminished or minor roles at NBC News, the network put the finishing public touches on its elevation of Lester Holt to anchor of the Peacock Network’s evening news program. He had been filling in for Williams who had been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation into Williams’ embellishment of his experiences covering the war in Iraq and other events.

The promos began airing earlier today in advance of Holt’s official debut Monday. In reverential tones, the promo announcer emphasizes that “when you need him” Holt is “there at the heart of the story” and “when it really matters you can depend on him.”
