EXCLUSIVE: John C. McGinley is suiting up for Rounding Third, a tale of baseball and fatherhood from Oscar-winning producer Fred Roos. The film centers on Don (McGinley), a win-at-all-costs coach of a kids baseball on which his son plays. The veteran butts heads with his new assistant coach as the pair have very different personal circumstances and philosophies about the game and how to motivate their team. Robert Deaton and George Flanigen will make their feature directing debut on the film, which Richard Dresser is adapting from his 2002 play.

“I have been a fan of John C. McGinley’s work for many years,” said Roos, who shared a Best Picture Oscar for The Godfather Part II and most recently produced St. Vincent. “The idea of John for Rounding Third struck me when I saw his great work in another baseball-orientated film, 42.”

McGinley co-starred on the 2013-15 TBS comedy Ground Floor and was a regular on another Bill Lawrence-created series, Scrubs, for its entire nine-year run. He next appears in the features Get A Job and the James Gunn-penned The Belko Experiment. He is repped by UTA and attorney Kevin Morris.
