Sources confirmed that Jimmy Fallon sustained a hand injury and underwent surgery this morning. As a result, the taping of tonight’s Tonight Show has been cancelled, the show confirmed by tweet. Fallon was already scheduled to go on hiatus for the next two weeks when the show is traditionally dark every summer.

Fallon himself took to Twitter later to provide details about the accident and a picture of his banged-up left hand:

Guests scheduled for tonight’s show included Benicio Del Toro, True Detective star Taylor Kitsch and Penn & Teller. Instead, NBC will rebroadcast the May 22 Tonight Show featuring guests Sting, Kevin Connolly and Kevin Delaney.
