Bartlett Sher’s production has its Golde and Motel The Tailor. Joining Danny Burstein’s talkative Tevye the milkman will be Jessica Hecht (Breaking Bad) as his no-nonsense wife Golde and Adam Kantor (The Last Five Years) as Motel (rhymes with dawdle), the impoverished tailor in love with Tzeitel (rhymes with bridal), one of Tevye and Golde’s five daughters. The roles were played in the 1964 Broadway premiere by Zero Mostel, Maria Karnilova and Austin Pendleton, yes Austin Pendleton, as Tevye, Golde and Motel, respectively.

Further casting will be announced soon, according to producers Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel and Jam Theatricals. Performances are slated to begin November 12 at the Broadway Theatre, with opening night on December 17.
