There will be one tweak in the coaches roster for the upcoming ninth season of NBC’s The Voice, with Gwen Stefani, who made her debut in the spinning chairs last fall, returning. Original coach Christina Aguilera, who had been taking regular breaks from the show, will sit out Cycle 9 after appearing in the most recent spring edition to work on her music but is expected to return for a future season.
Stefani will be joined again by returning coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton — who has been on the show from Day 1 –and Pharrell Williams, who made his Voice debut with Stefani last fall. Also coming back is host Carson Daly.
“With such an astounding group of coaches at the peak of their musical ingenuity and Carson returning as our host, we are thrilled for what Season 9 will bring,” said Paul Telegdy, president, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment.
The Voice hails from United Artists Media Group (an MGM company), Talpa Media USA and Warner Horizon Television. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Marc Jansen and Lee Metzger.
