Also cast in the project, directed by Rick Famuyiwa, are Grace Gummer, Dylan Baker (The Good Wife) and Law & Order veteran Peter McRobbie.

Confirmation, set to begin production shortly, details the Supreme Court hearings for Clarence Thomas (Wendell Pierce) that were rocked by testimony by Oklahoma law professor Anita Hill (Washington), which brought the country to a standstill and forever changed the way we think about sexual harassment, victims’ rights and modern race relations.

Gummer is Ricki Seidman, Chief Investigator for the Labor Committee for Sen. Ted Kennedy. Baker plays Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch, who went mercilessly after Hill during the hearings, attacking her credibility. McRobbie is Alan Simpson, also a Republican senator who was on the Judiciary committee.

Also previously cast in the movie are Jennifer Hudson, Jeffrey Wright, Alison Wright, Eric Stonestreet, Treat Williams and Bill Irwin.

Christensen, repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment, stars in the new ABC drama series Wicked City. McRobbie, repped by Abrams Artists Agency, recurs on Netflix’s Daredevil and plays the male lead in M. Night Shyamalan’s latest horror film The Visit, set for release in fall 2015. Smulders and Paul Campbell co-created comedy series project Beyond Repair for Campbell to star.
