Detroit-born-and-raised Eminem has become a symbol of the city, supporting it through good times and bad. Now the famous rapper will be lending a hand to a TV project set in Motor City: Paramount TV’s drama series inspired by Joe Carnahan’s 2002 movie Narc. I’ve learned that Eminem is in negotiations to join the project as an executive producer and music supervisor, and as part of that he is expected to write some original songs. Carnahan has written a pilot script and is set to direct and executive produce the drama, which is expected to be taken out to networks.
Like in the movie, which starred Ray Liotta and Ja
son Patric as Detroit police detectives investigating the murder of an undercover cop, the city will have a major presence on the show, also a crime thriller. It was put in development by Paramount TV about a year ago.
Attaching top musicians to TV series has been a successful practice, with Timbaland helping Fox breakout Empire and T Bone Burnett getting ABC’s Nashville off the ground in Season 1.

Personally can’t wait to see what Eminem brings to the table by writing and producing for Joe Carnahan’s ‘Narc’ Series at Paramount TV.
Oh ok. *now* I’ll watch it.
This show is coming out post The Wire and The Shield. Hopefully Carnahan has a new take for a morally ambiguous crime drama or we could get another terrible crime drama like AMC’s Low Winter Sun.
Well I for one love the ‘major presence’ the city created in the movie . . . in
Toronto. Where I location managed it.
Didn’t anybody tell you it was supposed to be a Detroit location? Because it felt like Toronto to me, too.
Two Detroit boys shooting in Toronto? How “F” ing sad, especially since Carnahan wears his Detroit ‘bad boy’ image on his sleeve.
Well hope Mr. Detroit pulls some weight to shoot it in Detroit. They need him more then ever and I Haven’t heard a whimper.
Why don’t they get Patric to reprise his role? What is he even doing now?
I for one canNOT WAIT!!!! This is going to be so good I loved the movie. Let’s go NARC!!
