After Donald Trump concluded his Trump Tower announcement he was joining the race for the White House, ending years of will-he-won’t-he gamesmanship with the press, the race was on to conduct the first interview with the real estate mogul/reality-TV star, and to get that sit-down pushed out to viewers.
Trump sat down first with Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly. That interview will air in its entirety on tonight’s The O’Reilly Factor, airing at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT.
Immediately thereafter, The Donald sat down with ABC News’ chief anchor George Stephanopoulos, who’d tweeted this morning: “Donald Trump is showing his net worth – so is he serious about a WH run? I interview him right after his announcement.” ABC News will parse that interview across various franchises. A portion of the sit-down will air tonight on ABC World News Tonight; another chunk on tomorrow’s Good Morning America. But ABC News will get some of the interview up up this afternoon, digitally.
In this morning’s announcement, Trump said he would use his own money to finance his campaign, because “I’m really rich.. that’s the kind of thinking you need for this country,” adding, “It sounds crass; it’s not crass” and waving a sheet of paper on which he said is spelled out his total net worth of $8.7 billion and change.
