Farrell, former principal dancer with the New York City Ballet; Judith Jamison, ex-artistic director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; Broadway diva Patti LuPone; jazz composer and instrumentalist Arturo Sandoval; and Oscar- and Tony-winning actor Washington have signed on as artistic advisors to the Center, where they’ll teach master classes open to the public and take part in other activities on the campus.
“We are proud to welcome five extraordinary Artistic Advisors to The Wallis for the upcoming season,” Patricia Wolff, interim artistic director, said in announcing the lineup. “These are artists who define excellence in theater, dance and music. They are not just advisors in name but will participate in the season with a focus on education.”
Four of the advisors will run master classes open to the public: Sandoval on October 27; Farrell on January 24, 2016; LuPone on March 31, 2016; and Jamison on April 5, 2016. LuPone will also perform her “Far Away Places” concert on April 1 and 2, 2016.
Washington will participate in an Arts & Ideas Conversation entitled “An Evening With Denzel Washington” on September 17. All the events will take place in the Bram Goldsmith Theater. See thewallis.org for information.
