Comedy Central has ordered 10 episodes of Jeff And Some Aliens, a spinoff of animated incubator series TripTank, for premiere in 2016. The series was created and executive produced by TripTank‘s Sean Donnelly and Alessandro Minoli and executive produced by ShadowMachine’s Corey Campdonico and Alex Bulkley.

Jeff’s mundane life is constantly thrown into chaos by his extraterrestrial guests – it isn’t always easy having roommates who force you to participate in grueling intergalatic decathalons or perform Azurian honor killings to restore interstellar balance.

TripTank features amalgamations of animated shorts by various creators, a format that allows for Comedy Central to conceive subsequent series from the produced shorts. TripTank debuted in 2013 and was renewed for a 20-episode second season in June 2014.

“It would be so weird if this show wasn’t animated,” said Kent Alterman, President, Original Programming, Comedy Central.

“We’d like to beat the trolls to the punch and be the first to say: ‘They cancelled Futurama for THIS?!,'” said Donnelly and Minoli.
