Comedy writer-producer Chuck Tatham is extending his long-standing relationship with 20th Century Fox TV via another overall deal. Under the new two-year pact, Tatham will continue to work on the studio’s flagship live-action comedy Modern Family, rising to executive producer next season.

Tatham’s history with 20th TV goes back to the studio’s Emmy-winning comedy Arrested Development, on which he served as a co-executive producer. He worked in the same capacity on 20th TV’s Fox comedy series Back To You before joining HIMYM at the beginning of Season 4 in 2008, also as a co-executive producer. He went on to work on the long-running ensemble comedy for the rest of its run, the last two seasons as an executive producer. He then segued to Modern Family — from Back To You creators Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd — which he joined last summer as co-executive producer.

“Ask any writer in town and they’ll all say the same thing: Chuck is one of the greats,” said 20th TV president of creative affairs Jonnie Davis. “He’s truly hilarious and hugely valuable to us. We’re proud to be the studio to keep him off of the hockey rink – at least during business hours — and in the amazing Modern Family writers’ room.”

Ontario-born Tatham, a lifelong hockey fan and amateur player, moved to Los Angeles 24 years ago to pursue a writing career. In his early years in Hollywood, he worked on such sitcoms as Full House, Suddenly Susan, The Ellen Show and 20th TV’s A.U.S.A.

Tatham is repped by WME and Evan Weiss of Collective Digital Studio.
