A Los Angeles Superior Court judge today dismissed six of the 13 criminal charges against actor and acting coach Cameron Thor, who still must stand trial on seven counts of performing lewd acts on a child. Two of the most serious charges – kidnapping and aggravated assault on a child – were among those dismissed. Four other counts of performing lewd acts on a child also were dropped.
Thor is accused of molesting a 13-year-old aspiring actress in 2009. His trial was set for July 7.
“Today, half the charges were dismissed, including the most serious charges, which carried a potential life sentences,” Thor’s attorney James Blatt told Deadline. “We are hoping for a similar outcome at the next court appearance.”
In court proceedings Friday in Van Nuys, the District Attorney’s office told Judge Martin Herscovitz that it was unable to proceed on six of the counts, which then were dismissed.
