ABC’s annual search for new acting talent starts today. Performers 18 and older can apply between June 1 – June 14 to tabclogohe third annual ABC Discovers: Digital Talent Competition by submitting a video on ABCDiscovers.com of them performing one of the comedy or drama scenes posted on the site. Judged on the quality of performance, potential star power and technical skill set, applicants will compete for a one-year $25,000 talent deal with ABC and a spot in the New York or Los Angeles 2015 ABC Discovers: Talent Showcase. The winner will be announced on July 20. Last year’s winners were Khalilah Joi Dubose (Hampton, Virginia) and Cornelius Smith Jr. (Detroit, Michigan). The win has led to opportunities at ABC for Smith Jr. who has landed an arc on the network’s popular drama series Scandal and guest shots on Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Forever.

ABC’s talent competition (fka ABC Make Me a Star) has long traditions in breaking new talent from diverse backgrounds. Now in its 14th year, ABC’s Talent Showcase in Los Angeles and New York — an industry only event attended by more than 400 producers. agents, casting directors and entertainment executives each year — has featured such then-up-and-comers as Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave), Gina Rodriguez (Jane The Virgin), Chadwick Boseman (42), Randall Park (Fresh Off The Boat), Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) and Carrie Ann Inaba (Dancing With The Stars).

“My team and I are always in the process of discovering and championing new talent, and this competition gives an opportunity to find actors who may not have had the chance to be seen yet by a team of professional casting executives,” said Keli Lee, ABC’s EVP Casting and Talent, ABC Entertainment. “The digital talent competition has been a game-changer for us, and through it we’ve been able to find and cultivate new talent across the country.”
