ABC is adding a fourth Shondaland series, The Catch, for next season. It is one of abclogosix new drama series picked up by the network, along with Jenna Bans’ The Family starring Joan Allen, the untitled Don Johnson-Chace Crawford starrer (formerly Boom), the biblical saga Of Kings and Prophets, which already has a writers room set up to work on 15 scripts, gritty anthology L.A. Crime — now titled Wicked City — and the Mark Gordon-produced procedural Quantico.

This is a nice parting gift for Gordon, who is leaving ABC Studios after a decade to launch a venture with eOne. The Quantico order comes 9 years after the Mark Gordon Co.’s first series pickup at ABC for Grey’s Anatomy. The company also has a Criminal Minds spinoff in contention at CBS.

ABC can have a Shondaland Thursday night all season long next season. How to Get Away with Murder has a shorter order as part of the deal with star Viola Davis. It now can be succeeded by thriller The Catch in midseason, with Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal staying on at 8 PM and 9 PM.

With the addition of Wicked City and the renewals of American Crime and Secrets & Lies, ABC will have three anthology crime dramas on the air next season, each following a new case every year.
