The Waiting, a new thriller starring James Caan, was just announced. It’s about two high school filmmakers who decide to create the illusion of a haunting on an unsuspecting neighbor. Directed by Kasra Farahani, whose short film Noon was optioned by 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment for a feature adaptation, it also stars Logan Miller (Scouts Vs. Zombies) and Keir Gilchrist (It Follows). Farahani comes from a background in production design and art direction for such films as Avatar, Star Trek, Alice In Wonderland and Thor.

Tim and Trevor White’s Star Thrower Entertainment, Giri Tharan’s Ball and Chain Productions and Steve Golin’s Anonymous Content are partnering on the film. Mark Bianculli and Jeff Richard wrote the script.

The Whites, Tharan, Rosalie Swedlin of Anonymous Content and Elana Barry are producing. Star Thrower’s production topper Allan Mandelbaum, who brought the project in, also will produce. Star Thrower and Ball and Chain will finance and produce. Anonymous Content who developed the project and initially set it up at Warner Bros will also produce.

Principal photography is set to begin this month in Los Angeles.
