In a blatant attempt to cash in with the faith-based crowd, Sony Pictures has slated Miracles From Heaven for release on March 18, 2016, one week before the Easter holiday — the same date it released Heaven Is For Real which worked incredibly well for the core audience last year.
Miracles From Heaven stars Jennifer Garner and, like Heaven Is For Real, is based on a book — one about Annabel Beam, a young girl who miraculously overcomes an incurable, life-threatening digestive disorder. After she is dramatically rescued from a near-death experience, an inexplicable series of miracles unfold that leave her family, her medical doctors and community baffled and inspired.
The film was directed by Patricia Riggen and produced by Joe Roth, T.D. Jakes and DeVon Franklin, the same producing team behind Heaven Is for Real. That film, directed by Randall Wallace, became one of the profitable movies at the studio last year, grossing $101.3M on a relatively small budget.
The book Miracles From Heaven (Hachette) was written by Christy Beam, the mother of the girl, and adapted by Randy Brown (Trouble With The Curve) who is repped by Anonymous, UTA and attorney David Fox
