The Doctor is in…the Marvel universe. Martin Freeman, whose hot streak includes roles as Sherlock Holmes’ sidekick in PBS’ Sherlock, FX’s Fargo and Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, has been tapped to join the cast of Disney/Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War.

Marvel.com just dropped the news but as per usual gave no further details, but most of the Marvel superheroes are in mix for this one including fellow franchise newcomer Chadwick Boseman who plays Black Panther.

Freeman won the Supporting Actor Emmy in 2014 for playing Dr. Watson opposite Benedict Cumberbatch on Sherlock. That same year he landed a Best Actor In A Movie Or Miniseries nom for the FX anthology series Fargo based on the Coen brothers’ feature film. He won the Golden Globe for Fargo this year.

The next installment of the Cap franchise is due out May 6, 2016 and advances the Marvel storylines most recently fleshed out by Avengers: Age Of Ultron, which has already crossed $200M at the domestic box office after its release this past Friday and $500M worldwide.
