ICM Partners has formed a new unit within its television department dedicated to servicing the agency’s TV directors, producers — including line producers and director-producers — and composers.
The Television Production Department will be overseen by longtime agents Sean Freidin and Janet Carol Norton. It has a coordinator on board, and there will likely be additional staffing with the hire of outside agents as the department is looking to boost its client ranks and possibly expand into other areas of below-the-line talent.
The launch of the new unit underscores the growing demand for senior production professionals as scripted television series continue to expand on existing and new digital platforms.
Clients of Freidin’s have won three of the last four Emmys for comedy series directing. His roster includes Gail Mancuso (Modern Family), Michael Spiller (Modern Family), Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad), Adam Bernstein (Fargo), Michael Trim (Orange Is The New Black), Richard J. Lewis (Hand Of God) and Michael Slovis (Game Of Thrones). Additionally, Freidin also assists ICM clients who want to pursue TV directing including Walter Hill, Karyn Kusama, Lucy Liu, Regina King and Charlie McDowell.
Norton, a partner at ICM Partners, reps producers in cable and network television who work on such series as Fargo, House Of Cards, Homeland, Jane The Virgin, The Big Bang Theory, The Simpsons, Masters Of Sex, The Flash, How To Get Away With Murder and Man In The High Castle.
