Benicio Del Toro has Cannes in his blood. For 20 years the actor has been coming to the Côte d’Azur with his movies, and he tells me he’s grown up through the festival. He’s here this year premiering three movies – A Perfect Day, The Little Prince and Sicario. I sat down with him yesterday to walk me through the first of these – A Perfect Day – which is from Spanish director Fernando León de Aranoa. The film tells the story of a group of humanitarian workers in a war zone, who have to figure out how to get a dead body out of a well after it’s placed there to contaminate the water supply. The ensemble cast includes Tim Robbins and Olga Kurylenko, and the film explores the mindset and the relationships of people in an extreme situation.
