DirecTV has set its next original comedy series, Almost There, starring and executive produced by Rescue Me and The Good Wife alum Steven Pasquale. The 10-episode single-camera series, which will premiere in fall 2015 on DirecTV’s Audience Network, is created/executive produced by Jace Alexander, Kim Cella and Debbie Baldwin.
Christopher Fitzgerald, Susan Kelechi Watson, Maddie Corman co-star opposite Pasquale, with Trieste Kelly Dunn, James McDaniel, Terry Kinney and Jane Alexander among the show’s recurring guest stars.
Written by Courtney Baron, Cella and Baldwin, Almost There tells the story of Jackson Cooper (Pasquale), a handsome, eternally single psychiatrist living in New York City. Serial dating and workaholic behavior have successfully helped him avoid long-term commitments, until he meets the girl of his dreams. Unfortunately he fails to get her name, number or any other information. The series follows Jackson on his quest to find her and to finally go about the task of finding himself along the way. Fitzgerald and Watson play Cooper’s neighbors, and Corman plays a co-worker.
Alexander, Cella, Baldwin and Pasquale executive produce with Jonathan Burkhart for Out of Time Productions.
“Almost There is a perfect complement to our growing slate of comedy series,” said DirecTV’s VP development and production Bart Peters.
Almost There, which recently wrapped production, joins DirecTV’s roster of comedy series, including Peter Ackerman’s Things You Shouldn’t Say Past Midnight, which premiered last year, and Neil LaBute’s Billy and Blilie, starring Adam Brody and Lisa Joyce, which premiered in March.
