Santino Fontana has joined the cast of Shades Of Blue, NBC’s straight-to-series drama directed by Barry Levinson. It follows a tight-knit crew of police officers who are effective at keeping the streets safe but also corrupt when it comes to lining their pockets and protecting their own. When one of the officers (Lopez) is forced to become a federal informant, she must decide between her own family’s welfare and that of her police family. Fontana will play Stuart Saperstein, a tough cop with a lion’s heart who is fiercely loyal to both his crew and his mother, with whom he still lives. He’s happy to be the first through the door on a bust, but his confidence on the street doesn’t translate to matters of the opposite sex. Fontana voiced Hans in the Disney megahit Frozen, and other recent credits include Mozart In The Jungle and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Repped by UTA, Brookside Artist Management, he next appears in the features Fade To White and Sisters.
Amirah Vann has landed a recurring role in Underground, WGN America’s pre-Civil War straight-to-series drama about the Underground Railroad. The series from Sony Pictures TV and Tribune Studios follows a group of slaves who plan a daring escape from a Georgia plantation to cross 600 miles to freedom. They are aided along the way by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad, as they evade those tasked with bringing them back — dead or alive. Vann plays Ernestine, the head house slave, who is an expert in navigating the upstairs/downstairs life on the plantation but will find her status challenged when those close to her run. Vann’s credits includes Tracers, And So It Goes and Girls. Repped by CESD and the Katz Company, she next appears in the feature Don’t Worry Baby.
