Disney XD wants more from its part-time hero. The kid-focused cable net has ordered a second season of Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, the toon starring Silicon Valley‘s Thomas Middleditch as an ordinary boy who inherits an extraordinary job. The series from creator/EPs Jared Bush and Sam Levine premiered in February.

Part-Time Hero follows Penn Zero and friends Sashi (Tania Gunadi), an overqualified part-time Image (2) Disney-XD-logo__140211052151.png for post 681040sidekick, and Boone (Adam DeVine), an underqualified part-time wise man, as they zap to other dimensions to fill in for heroes in need. Each mission takes the team to unpredictable worlds where they must battle evil part-time villain Rippen (Alfred Molina) and his part-time minion, Larry (Larry Wilmore). Lea Thompson, Gary Cole, Rosie Perez and Lenny Venito voice recurring characters.

“Jared and Sam have created a wonderful original series in Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero,” said Marc Buhaj, Disney XD’s SVP Programming and General Manager. “The show has rich, unique stories, and our audience has instantly responded to its engaging cast of characters. With Season 2, we are excited to uncover the origins of our part-time heroes and delve deeper into the characters’ mysterious backstories.”
