OWN just had its most-watched quarter in primetime in network history. The 581,000 audience for Oprah Winfrey’s network was up 44% compared with the previous quarter. The network also achieved its highest quarterly rank in primetime among women 25-54, its target demo.

Fueling the ratings boost: Tyler Perry. Tuesday had been a very nice night to be the creator of The Haves And The Have Nots and If Loving You Is Wrong. With the former wrapping up its second season and the latter starting its second, OWN had its most watched primetime ever in its just over four-year history with an average audience of 2.67 million. That’s up 5% over the previous OWN primetime viewership record of March 11, 2012 when the channel aired the Oprah’s Next Chapter episode with Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina. That broadcast was a month to the day after the multiple Grammy winner had been found dead in a room at the Beverly Hills Hilton, the night before the Grammy Awards.

That night’s season finale of The Haves And The Have Nots pulled in a total viewership of 3.5 million and a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. While down a tiny 2% from the 3.6 million that the Perry show’s Season 1 midseason finale got on March 11 last year, the 9 PM THTHN S2 ender is the second most watched show in OWN’s history. It was also the most watched show on cable last night, ahead of ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars.

In its ratings announcement OWN joined the growing number of networks saying it will wait for Live +3 ratings except when it reports on live telecasts or event programming.

The Oprah Winfrey Network’s love affair with Perry shows no sign of slowing, having in February ordered additional episodes of four of his series. The numbers: 23 hourlong episodes of The Haves And The Have Nots and 22 its companion drama If Loving You Is Wrong, 22 half-hours of comedy Love Thy Neighbor and 20 of sitcom For Better Or Worse.

Perry’s shows are consistently strong draws on OWN. The Season 2 bow of Haves And Have Nots drew 3.2 million viewers, the best premiere in OWN’s four-year history. If Loving You Is Wrong debuted in September with 1.93 million viewers and a 1.5 rating in the core women 25-54 demo.  Love Thy Neighbor premiered in May 2013 with a 1.7 million viewers and a 1.4 in the demo.
