Kathy Bates is returning to American Horror Story. Ryan Murphy made the announcement, per usual, via his Twitter feed. No official word on her character, but if the title is any indication — American Horror Story: Hotel she may well be running the joint sure to be at the center of the action

Bates joins already announced new castmembers Chloe Sevigny, Lady Gaga, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson for the FX horror anthology’s fifth season. Jessica Lange announced earlier this month at PaleyFest that she would not be returning after dominating the first four seasons on the awards circuit.

AHS: Hotel will mark Bates’ third turn on the series. The Oscar winner (Misery) won an Emmy last year for playing Madame Delphine LaLaurie on AHS: Coven. She also was in last season’s AHS: Freak Show.

Production on the 13-episode Hotel will begin in L.A. in late summer and will launch on FX in October.
