HBO will use the second-season bow of its Emmy-winning drama to drive sampling for a pair of rookie comedies. The next iteration of True Detective will premiere at 9 PM on June 21, followed by the series bow of Ballers at 10 and The Brink at 10:30.

Ballers explores the lives of a group of former and current football players. Dwayne Johnson stars along with Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Rob Corddry, Troy Garity, Donovan Carter, Jazmyn Simon, Taylor Cole and LeToya Luckett. The Brink focuses on a geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate and desperate men: U.S. Secretary of State Walter Hollander (Tim Robbins); Alex Coppins (Jack Black), a lowly Foreign Service officer; and Zeke Callahan (Pablo Schreiber), an ace Navy fighter pilot. These three compromised souls must pull through the chaos around them to save the planet from World War III.

True Detective is coming off its five Emmy wins with a new cast featuring Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams and the action moved from Louisiana to Los Angeles.
