Fox had, let’s say, fair-to-moderate success with its previous adaptation of a John Green YA novel. The Fault In Our Stars made more than $300 million worldwide last year on an incentives-aided budget of about $14 million. This time the big studio has made his coming-of-age tale Paper Towns, and here’s the first trailer. Nat Wolff, who co-starred in Stars, leads the new pic as Quentin, whose adventuresome but enigmatic neighbor Margo (Cara Delevingne) — for whom he has pined for years — recruits him to help with her revenge plot on a cheating boyfriend. But the morning after their all-night excursion, she has vanished. “Margo always loved mysteries,” narrator Quentin says. “Maybe she loved them so much, she became one.” Turns out, though, that she left a series of clues for Quentin and his school chums to decipher. Will true love win out??

Austin Abrams, Halston Sage, Justice Smith co-star in the film from director Jake Schreier. Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber wrote the script based on Green’s 2009 novel. Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen produced. Green is among the exec producers. The film opens wide July 24. Can lightning strike twice for Fox and Green?
