Giancarlo Esposito, who will next be seen in Fox’s second film in its YA franchise The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, has joined the cast of Jodie Foster’s Money Monster with George Clooney and Julia Roberts. He will portray Captain Marcus Powell, the NYPD lead officer in charge of the situation with a gunman holding a TV stock tip announcer named Lee Gates (Clooney) hostage. The  project was scooped up in 2014 by TriStar in one of its biggest deals of the year. Esposito’s character tries desperately to bring the ordeal to a peaceful close as the gunman promises to kill Gates if the cameras are turned off, thereby captivating a nation.

Esposito is also one of the voice artists in Jon Favreau & Disney’s 2016 live action/animation version of The Jungle Book which also stars Lupita Nyong’o, Idris Elba, Christopher Walken, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson & Ben Kingsley. The actor also recently completed production on the independent musical drama Stuck. The multi-hypenate also directed, produced & starred in the 2008 award-winning drama Gospel Hill.

Esposito is repped by ICM Partners, Thruline Entertainment and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein.

Giancarlo Esposito is a good actor but I boycott all of Julia Roberts films.
